itiswhatitis Ltd produces a top quality range of silk screen printed t-shirts available for you to buy if you want to.

All of our designs are silk screen printed using fine grade screens and plastisol ink which contains no air-polluting solvents or volatile organic compounds.

Unlike almost everyone else on the internet we do NOT use inferior "heat transfers" which tend to have a short life expectancy and crack up.

T-shirt Quality

itiswhatitis Ltd only use top quality materials. Our pre-shrunk t-shirts are manufactured in Europe, please note we do not use sweatshops to produce our tees. All have shoulder to shoulder taping and double stitching on the seams and a taped neckline for your comfort. The weight of the 100% ring spun cotton cloth is 200gr/m² and the thread is tightly woven fine knit gauge so that it is smooth and strong. The inks and silk screens we use are also of the best quality as are the soft woven labels that do not stick into your neck and irritate you. The t-shirts are sent out to you by 1st class post.

Girls Fitted T-shirts

Our classic pre-shrunk girls fitted t-shirts are top quality round neck tee's. They are manufactured using 100% combed cotton interlock weaving for great fit and shape retention. The weight of the cloth used is a tight knit 220gr/m². The inks and silk screens are all of the highest quality. These girls fitted t-shirts are very comfortable to wear.

Silk Screen Printing

A screen is made of a piece of porous, finely woven fabric (originally silk, but typically made of polyester or nylon since the 1940s) stretched over an aluminum frame. Areas of the screen are blocked off with a non-permeable material—a stencil—which is a positive of the image to be printed; that is, the open spaces are where the ink will appear.

The screen is placed on top of a piece of fabric. Ink is placed on top of the screen, and a squeegee (rubber blade) is used to push the ink evenly into the screen openings and onto the substrate. The ink passes through the open spaces in the screen onto the paper or fabric below; the screen is lifted away and then the squeegee is pushed back across the screen, with the screen lifted, "flooding" the ink into the screen. The screen can be re-used after cleaning. If more than one colour is being printed on the same surface, the ink is allowed to dry and then the process is repeated with another screen and different color of ink. Screenprinting is more versatile than traditional printing techniques. The surface does not have to be printed under pressure, unlike etching or lithography, and it does not have to be planar. Screenprinting inks can be used to work with a variety of materials, such as textiles, ceramics, metal, wood, paper, glass, and plastic. As a result, screen printing is used in many different industries, from clothing to product labels to circuit board printing.

Plastisol Ink

Plastisol inks are widely used in garment printing. They are easy to print, do not dry in the screen, can be very opaque on dark garments, and will adhere to most textiles. They are composed primarily of two ingredients, PVC resin (a white powder) and plasticizer (a thick, clear liquid). Plastisol inks have one outstanding characteristic, they must be heated to dry. They will not dry, or cure, at normal temperatures. For a complete cure, they must reach 290-330º F (143-166º C).

Plastisol inks can be printed on virtually any surface that can withstand the heat required to cure the ink and is porous enough to permit good ink penetration. Plastisol inks do not colour the fibers like a dye. Instead the ink wraps around the fibers and makes a mechanical bond with the fabric. Plastisol inks are innocuous when used with reasonable care. A true plastisol ink contains no air-polluting solvents or volatile organic compounds. The manufacture, transportation, storage, use, and disposal of plastisol inks do not cause injury, illness, or environmental contamination as long as the appropriate safety and environmental protection procedures are followed.
